I'm throwing this question out as a fellow gamer used to use WRG Ancients Army lists as acbase for fantasy armies using The TSR Battlesystem 2nd Ediition rules. Since HOTT an DBX are both published by WRG are the two based on similar mechanics? Thanks in advance.

Salut y'all!

Yes.

yes they are, bith similar in mechanics although HOTT has more unit types, and the same basing scheme.

I actually use my Sub Roman Brit army for DBA, and use it more often as a HoTT army. I built a couple extra stands to give some more fantasy flavor.

You would not have to rebase the figures, but the list may have to be adjusted slightly to fit into HotT.

I think HOTT actually plays better than DBA. The minutia of DBA is not as prevalent in HOTT. The rules for HOTT are easier to understand. You could use the unit stats for DBA and assign some equivalents such as…

Pikes perform the same as Spear in match-up. however, they are +3/+4 and gain a +3 instead of +1 for support.

You can lump Ax into WB but don't give them warband advantages like support +1 and quick kill on some heavy infantry.

so for me, if I were going abck to WRG games, I'd probably play HOTT for everything.

I use HoTT for so many things.

It actually makes a great skirmish set, although it isn't supposed to.

I have been using it as a colonial set and most recently for Science Fiction.
