I had a go at re-fighting the Battle of Barnet over the weekend – details here: link

The current ongoing archaeological survey of the battlefield is beginning to suggest that the battlefield was further north than the traditional site.

Are these 40mm bases or 60mm?

Great report and pictures thanks for showing. I really like this battle; our local group did it in 25 mm with DBA.

I decided to keep things simple. Each side deployed not knowing the others deployment. First set on was covered with boxes. Then second side deployed, also covered. Each side then moved with opponent covered until they got within cannon range -- 5 Base Widths (BW = 60mm). I had told the two right flank battles of the overlapped lines of the enemy and allowed them to wheel towards the enemy flank. Each side took a cannon shot straight ahead without seeing enemy. They rolled for results, which the GM worked out, but only a couple of recoils. Then I lifted the boxes.

See the first day report here, someday I'll do the finale.

Whirlwind, thanks much for showing those magazines with the articles about the battle. I'll have to look for those and maybe redo this.

Thanks Bobgnar. I enjoyed having a go at this battle, but it really cries out for a multi-player treatment to reflect the lack of co-ordination on the day.

(And someone needs to use a smoke machine or something to represent that fog!)
