Before Partizan, Simon came to the club and gave Martin and myself a demonstration of his To the Strongest rules. Having left us a copy we were keen to try them out again. On Tuesday evening Martin and I tried them out ourselves pitting my Gauls against his Republican Romans.
The really are a great game, easy to pick up, but with enough detail and quirks – no dice or tapes! – to keep them interesting.
I've done a battle report and there are loads more pictures from the game over on Scrivsland: link |

Beautiful looking game! Sounds like an interesting game, is there any more info on the rules anywhere? |

Yes, more information please! It looks great. Is the randomization needed for the game provided by cards or another method? |

They are a great set of rules and they balanced the EIR and Boudicca game I ran at home very nicely. It took the guys a couple of moves to get used to no dice or measures but after that there was no holding them back. The Parthians are awaiting their turn for an outing next! |

Thanks chaps. The randomisation is indeed provided by a standard deck of playing cards with the court cards removed. To activate a unit you need to draw anything but an ace. To activate a unit again you need to draw a higher card than you last drew. If you draw an ace, or fail an activation then you cannot try to activate more units in that generals command and you move on to the next command. Once all your commands are done you pass to the opposing player. Looks like we will be trying Arthurians next time. |

Great to see that they are getting a bit of play testing! I'm hoping to fit in a game myself, this afternoon, and will be bringing a big game to SELWG. I'm on track to publish them in November. Best, Simon |
