We've started a To the Strongest campaign at club, recreating the conflict between the Byzantine Empire and the Bulgarians that took place in 1002-1018 BC.

In the first installment the two armies clash right at the border between their respective nations.



An intense and unpredictable game. Full AAR plus many pictures can be found at Hook Island.

Yes, next time I'll be sure to leave at least some protection for the camp. And Basil will perhaps have to stay in the rear ranks…

Hi Gunnar,

I once saw a Roman unit advance out of its fortified camp which was immediately captured by a "lost" enemy unit that arrived unexpectedly on the Roman edge of the table. The unwise Romans had to turn around and assault their own camp! Happy days. :-)
