I've noticed some people expressing a preference for DBA in their fantasy wargaming, instead of using the DBx fantasy ruleset Hordes of the Things.

Why?

I would imagine that if, say, you put together a force of goblin wolfriders organized as skythians, you could play not just HotT opponents but also open-minded DBA players.

What is the difference between HotT and DBA fantasy?

Well, for one, you can't buy "DBA fantasy" because it is house rules.

There are now different rule mechanisms in DBA v3 compared to HOTT*, so if you are a DBA player you may want to play house rules for Fantasy because you don't want to learn and remember different mechanisms for both games.

That is about it.

*The two rule sets actually started to diverge when DBA v2 came out, but v3 has some significant differences in how ZOCs work, PIP use, etc.

It depends. Some people play fantasy armies using DBA3 as-is.

Where do you download D3H2? I assume it is a DBA3 variant adding rules from HotT2?

I'm the author of D3H2 (really the compiler).

You have to contact me to get the rules (its DBA 3.0 with the HOTT elements included).

It allows you to play both fantasy and historical armies using the same DBA 3.0 mechanisms.

Thanks, I've added D3H2 to the Supplements list for DBA and HOTT in the Rules Directory.
