The rules state you go towards the closest enemy by measuring their farthest corners. Am I reading that right?

It seems overly complicated and I sometimes end up charging people who look farther away. I've read elsewhere you should advance towards an enemy stand based on their closest front corner (which makes sense).

Which is correct?

Without the rules in front of me it's furthest corner to furthest corner, there are some exceptions which I'm sure you already know, I.e. skirmishers are ignored unless directly to the front, Wb don't go towards El and that sort of thing and you go by wheeling towards enemy etc.
Once you go through it a few times it gets easier but it's one of those where the written word isn't clear at all.
