I had a go at Quatre Bras yesterday, using Phil Barker's draft Horse, Foot and Guns rules: link

Incidentally, it looks like the draft HFG rules are no longer available for download from Phil Barker's Website: link but are still available on the Yahoo Group link

To Editor Bill: I tried to crosspost this to the DBx and Solo Wargames board but got locktime errors for both. If you get the chance, could you crosspost please?

Thanks for the AAR.

You gave Kellerman a unit of dragoons? Careful you'll have Kevin Kiley on your case ;-)

Nicely presented game – put me in the 'loathe it' camp on the rules though.

Thanks for the AAR. Good looking game!

It appears Mr. Kiley got his underwear in a knot. grin
Keep the Dragoons. They were at Ney's disposal whether they were used or not. They WERE the other formation in Kellerman's Division. I doubt the General would have wandered far without them.

Yes, I am moving towards wanting to include them in my QB scenario after having bought the new Osprey QB book.

I was a bit disappointed with the way the thread that covered this issue deteriorated.

I like the size of the game that your HFG rules produced.

Thanks for the kind words about the game. I've decided to reload and play it again, using my favoured Polemos rules. If I stick to the Marechal d'Empire set, the ground and figure scales will remain the same.

It would be instructive to see the same game played with different rules. I look forward to your next report.

I'm shocked. shocked.

I like the size of the game that your HFG rules produced.

I was pleased that I decided to go with 1 base = 1 brigade rules over 1 base = 1 battalion rules. It made for more intense gaming without havning to constantly done the different hats of different commanders. It kept me reasonably focused on the Wellington/Prince of Orange vs Ney/Reille/Kellermann level.
