How will the rules Tin Soldiers in Action handle some crazy ideas I have about how to rate troops during the American Revolution? Will the British be able to grind through two lines of Patriots in order to destroy the Continental regiments in the third line? Will they be ground down to the point that their tactical victory does not merit the cost strategically? Find out!

Fantastic game, excellent report! I like the arrows on your pictures helping much for understanding the flow of the battle. It was very interesting to see how you rate the troops. Much to think over for my planned own battles.

Use quilt batting instead of cotton balls. Looks more realistic. I have a big bag and pull them out like cotton candy.

Quilt batting, eh? I will give it a try. Note that it has no function in the rules. I just use it for the photos and to show where the action has occurred during the turn.

Good Report, even when I miss the wooden soldiers. :-)

In TSIA it is always possible to use special rules for special scenarios, but I am not shure if I like your "no-Bayonet-"rule.

If units do not pass the close combat test in TSIA they are usually disordered but still able to fight. Force them to run away AND give them an additional -1 modifier just to guarantee that they will not pass the test seems to me a little bit to much.

By the way: you can always see/fire into an adjacent square. :-)

Fascinating and very helpful AAR. One acid test: how long did this game take? I ask because, hopefully, a square grid should really speed things along so you can play a fairly substantial multi-layered defence like this in reasonable time?

I cannot answer how long Dale was playing this one, but I can tell you that a game of this size can be played in less than 2 hours. I played this scenario several times in one evening and had a lot of fun.
