The WRG site now has the 2nd edition of HOTT available for free download. Click on the History of W.R.G. link and scroll to fairly near the bottom.

HoTT Dang! grin

Thanks for the link!

Mining elsewhere in his pages also gives:

"DE BELLIS VELITUM

This is a skirmish game for two small forces, each consisting of 1 to 4 sub-units, each in turn of 4 to 12 singly based 25mm figures, totalling up to 24 army points (AP) and controlled by a single player. Figures vary in cost between 6 AP and 2 AP. One figure of the most expensive mounted type or most expensive foot type present is nominated as the force's commander and one figure of each group is nominated as its leader."

and other preliminary rules sets.

SWEET!

Sumo Boy12 Aug 2010 12:16 p.m. PST

Nice. Fun set of rules… must get back to my 15mm undead army expansion.

I like the straight forwardness of HoTT over DBA. I'd always wanted to make a mod which uses DBA types with HoTT logic and rules. I owned the print version but foolishly sold it. Glad it is free now!

deanoware12 Aug 2010 12:32 p.m. PST

I actually still own the book but it is nice to have a pdf version as well now.

ajbartman12 Aug 2010 1:18 p.m. PST

Outstanding…

Shakespear12 Aug 2010 2:38 p.m. PST

The site is down for me. =(

Calico Bill12 Aug 2010 3:18 p.m. PST

Excellent. Thank you. It couldn't have happened at a better time as I'm about to start up Big Battle HotT here. We've got to find SOME use for our GW Armies & D&D Minis!

That's nice of Barker and Scott.

Thanks,

John

WOW, I was just about to ask where to find a copy of HOTT this morning. It must be a sign. A thousand thank yous indeed!

Jojojimmyjohn12 Aug 2010 8:54 p.m. PST

Very cool. My print copy was getting a bit battered.

KTravlos12 Aug 2010 8:57 p.m. PST

Awesome!

hwarang12 Aug 2010 10:28 p.m. PST

Very nice, very generous.

Once again shows that, despite the occassionla grumbling (probably appropriate for a grognard who could be my grandfather age-wise), the people behind WRG are great and care about their games. I own a print version and will play a few games in celebration of this later the day.

Calico Bill12 Aug 2010 10:53 p.m. PST

Sadly, while I'm still grateful, it's the rules only & no army lists. Sure wish The Stronghold would get back online.

streetline13 Aug 2010 2:30 a.m. PST

As someone clever on the HotT yahoogroup pointed out – link seems to work with some twiddling.

Kropotkin30313 Aug 2010 4:38 a.m. PST

Here is a link to the Stronghold through the Wayback Machine.

Thanks WRG for the pdf.

cooey2ph13 Aug 2010 4:52 a.m. PST

Thanks to the writers! It took me around two years to finally get my hands on a secondhand copy of version 1 of the rules and I've since been happily making armies. Making v2 available is an early christmas gift!

Thanks again WRG:)

Looking a bit closer, it appears to be missing the moderately critical p23 (combat results). Hopefully this will be fixed before too many innocent newbies DL it!

Figured that out last night after making a booklet pdf. Has anyone tried to contact Sue about the error?

streetline13 Aug 2010 8:27 a.m. PST

I've posted to the HotT yahoogroup where she announced it.

billthecat13 Aug 2010 10:15 a.m. PST

AAAhhrg! No page 23 !!! No good! We are the victims of a hoax!

Who asked this joker13 Aug 2010 12:40 p.m. PST

We are the victims of a hoax!

newbies will be put off but a resourceful gamer will find the QRS out there somewhere and off you go! It would be nice to have p23 though!

KTravlos13 Aug 2010 4:52 p.m. PST

There is a QRS available on this site link for this version it has the battle outcomes

cooey2ph13 Aug 2010 10:39 p.m. PST

Thanks KTravlos for the link!

KTravlos14 Aug 2010 9:41 a.m. PST

Sure thing. Kropotkin303 first put it up. I just noted the QRS.

The Last Conformist14 Aug 2010 11:47 a.m. PST

p23 is up as a separate download on the WRG page now. A complete pdf is said to be coming.

paintingbird14 Aug 2010 12:50 p.m. PST

A link for page 23 is little lower on the same webpage.

CPBelt14 Aug 2010 8:36 p.m. PST

it appears to be missing the moderately critical p23 (combat results)

Now I know why combat made no sense to me as I read it!

billthecat17 Aug 2010 10:16 a.m. PST

Got page 23. Thanks WRG!
