Guys, last week we did the refight of Chalons, using an OOB that TAGMATA had on their site. The Hunnic coalition, composed of the Ostrogoths on the left, Huns in the center and the Gepids on the right. The Roman Coalition had the Visigoths on the right, Alans in the center and the Romans on the left. The Romans also had the advantage of a large gentley sloped hill, directly in front of their deployment.
The Ostrogoths and visigoths, true to form, slammed into one another and both divisions were DISHEARTENED, and both were close to becoming DEMORALIZED. The Huns were getting the better of the Alans, but it was taking quite a number of turns to do so.
I commanded the Gepids, which were deployed to the right of the Huns and I was opposite the Romans on the hill. I advanced on turn one, with both my Kn(F) and Wb(O).
Unfortunately, on turns 2,3 and 4, I rolled a "1" for PiP's and was not able to hold back my IMPETUOUS troops and both the Wb(O) and Kn(F) went surging up the hill at the Romans.
The result was a slaughter, as my command broke by turn 6 and it was ugly
Eventually, the Hunnic Coalition decided to quit the field and fight another day.
This battle is a very interesting one and can go quite differently then the way our battle did. I like the way DBMM represents IMPETUOUS troops a lot, as you can lose control at the worst moment in the battle.
