"Warmaster & Five Armies figs used in other rulesets?" Topic

I quite literally fell into a lot of Warmaster figures. A skeleton army, a bunch of elves, and the better part of two sets of the Battle of Five Armies.
Question: Is the basing they use (they're all already based) usable (easily that is) under any different rule system, specifically but not limited to HOTT?

I've not played any small scale fantasy games and was wondering what they could be used for other than Warmaster. Yes, I am aware that I could just go and play Warmaster but finding opponents for that is harder than say HOTT.

If they're on the 40mm x 20mm bases supplied then yes. Cavalry might be a problem if based facing the short edge but you could just use two stands side-by-side to get the 40mm needed.

As AB says, for HOTT (and indeed any of the DBx series if so minded) any narrow bases of 20mmby40mm will need to be 2 side by side or just sabot based with bluetack on to a 40mm frontage. I think Artillery are on narrow bases to.

Personalities or leaders that are on circulaer bases (as can be the norm) can also be placed on a sabot.

Key thing is width. There is no discernable loss in pleasure at playing with base depths that do not match the recommended minimums.

We use Warmaster and BoFA figures with our upcoming "Look, Sarge, No Charts: Fantasy, Ancients & Medieval" (LSNC:FAM) rules.
The bases are 3" across, and two Warmaster infantry bases placed side by side will fit nicely on a 3" sabot base.

The rules are under development and hopefully will be relased towards the end of next year.

We've played loads of Hail Ceasar with fantasy bolt ons using Warmaster figures. We choose 6 stands to make a unit as we have big armies but 4 stands would have worked as well.

Hail Caesar! should play well enough with normal sized (3 stands) Warmaster units. You don't really need a second "rank" of units unless the units are horde or phalanx, the width is what matters, as was said.

But if you have more than enough miniatures, go for 6 as he said. Of course you should go for maximum spectacle possible, without sacrificing in battle sizes.

Cavalry will need 6 stands per unit I'm afraid!

We were trying to get the same area for infantry and cavalry, which is one of the reasons we went for 6 stand units. Plus they look really nice and chunky on the table.

I have considered going with 2 stand units to allow really big battles on a normal sized table. Bottom line is the HC is pretty flexible on basing, all you need is units to have pretty much the same frontage.
