I started off with WRG, had a couple of games of DBM then went on a long hiatus of school, family and career. Since getting back into it, I like DBMM 100, 240 and for big games but more often find opponents for DBA and HotT – both of which are very good in their own right. I have had no interest in DBR until I was recently given some ECW figures.

Swampster19 Sep 2011 12:07 p.m. PST

Mostly MM – 400 or 500 AP.
I like HoTT.

Danmer19 Sep 2011 12:10 p.m. PST

Very much enjoy a game of DBA or HotT, but I've never really liked the other DBx games. Maybe thats odd – I'd expected to like them all on account of DBA but was very wrong about that! So just the two for me…

Mooseworks819 Sep 2011 12:15 p.m. PST

I've played DBM and HOTT but have yet to play DBA though it was the first ruleset I bought. Want to try DBMM. Love HITT.

MajorB19 Sep 2011 12:17 p.m. PST

DBA or BBDBA

freewargamesrules19 Sep 2011 12:22 p.m. PST

HOTT is the best version of DBx

elsyrsyn19 Sep 2011 12:39 p.m. PST

DBA, BBDBA, or HOTT.

DBMM and DBR.

Love MM, DBR is so so, but the rules of choice for pike and shot gaming at our club.

timurilank19 Sep 2011 1:20 p.m. PST

DBA, DBA-HX 1500-1900 and now starting DBA-RRR. I enjoy the big battle option for each.

Latest project: Spanish Succession War

Forgot HOTT.

I have played a good amount of DBA and some BBDBA over the past five or so years. I just played my first DBM this past weekend in a tournament at Advance the Colors. Used a 400 point army and really enjoyed it even though I had heard so many bad things about it over the years. Looking forward to playing again here in the near future.

Andrew May119 Sep 2011 1:48 p.m. PST

Only DBA so far, but I really enjoy it! It's easy enough for a simpleton like me!

Bob in Edmonton19 Sep 2011 2:32 p.m. PST

DBA and HoTT regularly, DBHx almost as much. I have played a couple of games of DBA-RRR and enjoyed it. Next up is HiTT.

Of all, I think HoTT is the most versatile and it would be my desert island game.

Desert Fox19 Sep 2011 2:40 p.m. PST

HiTT?

ashill219 Sep 2011 2:49 p.m. PST

DBA, DBM and DBMM. Like DBA best because games are over fairly fast and are decisive. Would like to have a go at BBDBA but not takers amongst my gaming fraternity.

DBA, and BBDBA, Humberside all most monthly . DBR and DBM a little. I have not played DBMM.

Dale Hurtt19 Sep 2011 3:19 p.m. PST

DBA, BBDBA, Giant DBA, and HOTT. Tried DBN but it did not really take. Used DBA and HOTT for an AWR variant, but it does not get much play now.

Dale

Sysiphus19 Sep 2011 3:28 p.m. PST

DBA, BBDBA, and a little MM

skinkmasterreturns19 Sep 2011 5:21 p.m. PST

BBDBA,but not for a couple of years. I havent played DBM since version 1.0. Played a little DBR about 5 years ago,but have played Maximillian!(which is very DBA-like) for that period. I've also enjoyed a number of HOTT games over the years. I like DBA 2.2,but I am willing to give 3.0 a try.

Barry S19 Sep 2011 7:04 p.m. PST

DBA, DBA-HX, HotT and HotE.

Desert Fox – HitT is 'Hordes in the Trenches', a WW1 HotT variant.

DBR are my favorite rules for renaissance and pike and shot, while Big Battle DBA are my favorites for ancients and medieval.I don't play tournaments so I have added some house-rule chrome to both sets.

vtsaogames19 Sep 2011 7:25 p.m. PST

DBA, some BBDBA.

Personal logo Inari7 Supporting Member of TMP19 Sep 2011 9:10 p.m. PST

DBA or BBDBA I also like DBA-RRR

Ivan DBA19 Sep 2011 10:52 p.m. PST

DBA and HotT. And I'm working on a DBACW army. I dabbled in DBM a few times, but couldn't stand the ultra-competitive tournament play. Got into DBR for awhile because the local group was playing it, but never really liked it that much, though I think it plays a lot better than DBM.

Alan Lauder19 Sep 2011 11:04 p.m. PST

DBA has been my staple for some time but lately I have been venturing out into DBA-RRR, DBACW and DB Colonial. Next is to get into big battle DBA/DBA-RRR

Shaun Travers20 Sep 2011 4:05 a.m. PST

The occasional times I play DBx, it is DBM100 v2.2. So I can date to 1997 when I stopped playing lots, to just playing occasionally.

Personal logo Bobgnar Supporting Member of TMP20 Sep 2011 9:28 a.m. PST

Our group does Giant DBA games, 4-5 armies on a side. Like BBDBA but bigger. I hardly ever so the standard game anymore. Same for HOTT games.

DBR are my favorite rules for renaissance and pike and shot, but again group games. Not as complex as the "M" games.

DBM and DBMM just too complicated.

Anyone know why DBMM has not really caught on in the US? I do not see it listed in any convention programs.

DBMM2, DBA, DBAOL, BBDBA, DBR (but not for a while), DBSA (Pre-Dreadnought Naval), HOTT and want to try HitT. Enjoy them all for different reasons. DBMM is the best Ancients big battle set I have played for all sorts of reasons. DBA is a very enjoyable quick (but intense) battle, DBSA gives equally plausible results to much more complex games.

The Wargames Room21 Sep 2011 11:57 p.m. PST

DBR and DBA. I hope to play some more DBMM at some stage but can't draw myself away from the excellent games of DBR and DBA.

Mooseworks822 Sep 2011 12:48 p.m. PST

Forgot to mention DBF.

Guthroth23 Sep 2011 5:12 a.m. PST

HoTT and DBA for me.

Never tried DBM or DBMM or any of the sub sets.

stenicplus27 Sep 2011 5:36 a.m. PST

HOTT

John GrahamLeigh Supporting Member of TMP30 Sep 2011 8:41 a.m. PST

DBM. Loved DBA and played it incessantly 1989-92, then when DBM came out it was so much better that we never looked at DBA again. Most of the "ultra-competitive" types, in the UK at least, have moved on to Field of Glory or other sets so DBM competitions are considerably more relaxed these days.

hwarang01 Oct 2011 11:31 a.m. PST

Some DBA, less HoTT.
The "big" rulesets are too complicated for my taste.

The Last Conformist03 Oct 2011 6:47 a.m. PST

DBA, DBMM, occasionally HOTT.

KATCH2204 Oct 2011 12:45 p.m. PST

DBA so far.. looking to expand.. :-)

Tony Aguilar12 Oct 2011 2:17 a.m. PST

DBA (and DBA-RRR of course).

RobBrennan18 Oct 2011 4:56 a.m. PST

DBMM at 400, 200 and 100AP. The latter especially for 1-night campaigns. I've played all the other variants a bit too but none of them are as good for me.

DBA but I am very beginner. I played few games and none with my own army yet.
I tried DBM and DBMM once but no one play them around so i have to build second army.

I will probably expand one of DBA armies to BBDBA and them DBMM/FOW

I much prefer DBMM mechanics to FOW but for unknown reason DBA is played but DBM/MM Ive seen none…

Benedict Arnold27 Nov 2011 2:50 a.m. PST

DBA, HotT, DBA-RRR, DBN regularly. I like DBR, but tend to play DBA-RRR more at the moment. I have tried DBM and DBMM, but don't forsee myself changing to either of them, although I do think they are good games.

Ammianus27 Nov 2011 6:01 a.m. PST

DBA, DBN, DBACW and hopefully some day HOTT.

platypus01au27 Nov 2011 4:24 p.m. PST

DBMM mostly, but also DBA and then HOTT.

Cheers,
JohnG

DBA and DBA-RRR.

Terry3703 Feb 2012 8:49 a.m. PST

Locally, in Nashville, we play DBA, HotT, DBA-HX, DBN, HotE and HitT, and enjoy all of them. We've also found that our DBA-HX renaissance armies will work fine in DBA-RRR.

Terry

trailape04 Feb 2012 2:59 a.m. PST

DBA, BBDBA, DBN or HOTT.

Cheers

KTravlos04 Feb 2012 11:41 a.m. PST
