Finished these up this last week, I still have plans for a few more but was to excited to wait. I always wanted a Blood Angels company, now I do!

I decided on the 40mm frontages because I really like the smaller board size and I let's me stretch the miniature out I bit farther than 60mm.

I've classed the basic space marines as spear, I didn't want to play them as blade because I want to eventually have some terminator bases that will be blade.

I have two riders, two warbands, and four spear and one beast (still painting) and plans for two more spear, and a couple of heroes. I also need to do a couple of general stands, one spear, one rider and a hero general. There's also a hoard of Orks in the background waiting for paint.

Epic 40k HoTT armies? Why didn't I think of that? Yours look great!

Dale Hurtt31 Mar 2013 10:05 p.m. PST

Those really look great. What rating did you give the various unit types, for example the squad with the Rhino?

Kmfisher31 Mar 2013 10:18 p.m. PST

Thanks for the kind words!

Dale, I'm using the squads with Rhinos as Riders, the Assault Marines as Warband, the tactical squads as spear. On the painting table is a base of 9 Marines and a Chaplin that I'll be using as a beast element.

I created this quite a long while ago. You may find it useful.

Angel Barracks01 Apr 2013 1:46 a.m. PST

Yikes, that is cool!
Hmmmm may have to investigate this..

mashrewba01 Apr 2013 9:36 a.m. PST

These look great -I've been toying with this idea but couldn't decide on the basing -you have inspired me. You can fit a Titan on a 40mm just -maybe I'll go for 50mm -it's all just too difficult!!!

justBill01 Apr 2013 10:32 a.m. PST

Wow, how cool!!!

mashrewba01 Apr 2013 3:23 p.m. PST

I just dug out a load of Epic (including metal Space marines) -now do I base these up or sell them on E Bay for a million pounds?
I'm going for 50mm bases. I will use the armies with Future War Commander, Alien Squad Leader and of course HOTT.
Thanks for the inspiration!!!

The old metal Space Marines as always good sellers …

mashrewba14 Apr 2013 2:28 a.m. PST

So I didn't sell them on E Bay after all -I just went on E bay and bought more stuff -the situation is already out of hand…

mashrewba09 Nov 2014 6:39 a.m. PST

well it took me a long time to get around to this -loads of stuff based but only these finished (sort of…)

Thanks for the inspiration Ken!!!

Capt Flash09 Nov 2014 11:41 p.m. PST

Looking good. I've been toying with doing the same with Mighty Armies…
How does HOTT translate into sci-fi?

Logain10 Nov 2014 11:41 a.m. PST

Capt Flash, you should let Rebel Mike know about Mighty Armies Sci if you haven't already. I know that he has mentioned it on TMP and is already working on it (or at least has it on his radar), and the more people who express interest the more likely it might happen.

I'm late to the party, but here's a ink to three years worth of HOTT Epic 40K posts on my blog, covering a range of armies from Space Marines and Orks to Tyranids, Squats and Dark Eldar.

If that's TLDNR then here's the lists, with some rationale as to why things are classified the way they are and why some things aren't:

Love it. My friends and I play saga with 40k.

mashrewba01 Apr 2015 12:43 p.m. PST

Ha Testiculies -good idea. I have played Fanticide (what?) with 40K and was thinking about doing Lion Rampant with it as well.

Kmfisher09 Apr 2015 9:10 a.m. PST

mashrewba Looking good! Glad I could be an inspiration.

Kaptain Kobold Those posts were my inspiration for this, I've got a bunch of Orcs and Eldar to paint and base then I'll be trying some of your campaign ideas.

mashrewba09 Apr 2015 10:59 a.m. PST

Indeed -in fact I've gone to 40mm square bases for most stuff/infantry with 50mm for bigger vehicles and 60mm square for Titans etc.
I can use everything on 40mm bases for HOTT but I've now got so much stuff I'm OK for Epic or FWC as well.
Happy daze!!

VALIS1319 Nov 2015 12:49 a.m. PST

Time to dig out my old box set of Space Marine and re-create the Horus Heresy in HOTT!

SteveUK21 Nov 2015 3:46 a.m. PST

Feeling pretty inspired to try this out, but I can't find my copy of HOTT rules, can you still get them? are there any PDF downloads out there, tried searching but no luck so far, can someone point me in the right direction.

SteveUK, it seems Phil/WRG took the HOTT rules down from their site since the HOTT2.1 reprint.
