Hi all,

It's been a long time since I last posted a battle report from my Hyborian campaign. This is what happened when Asgard and Cimmeria clashed to see who would be the winner of The War in The North.

picture

Conan had made the decision to march north through Asgard to get to Vanaheim. Understandably the Aesir didn't like this so war broke out between the two previous allies.

What made this battle new for me was that I deployed Gods on the table for the first time. Both Ymir and Crom turned up at the same time.

All sorts of calamities ensued. More can be read and viewed on the blog.

What I liked about this game was that it had big stompy things screwing up the plans of men. What was also good was that one of the commanders had a plan and he stuck to it. Who that commander was I will let you decide.

Hope you enjoy the battle. Comments and crits welcome.

Crom does not care about the affairs of men.

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Nice to know that Hyborian wargaming is popular.

Cullen, the figures are mainly old Garrison ones. The Asgard are their Viking range with a few Sword and Sorcery Northmen for command figures.
The Cimmerians are Garrison Picts from the same S&S range, but I don't know who makes the archers. The Sister's of Crom are female Indian temple guard from an unknown range. The riders are Minifigs Numidian cavalry I think.

The Spirit of Ymir is a resin mammoth that is available from Arcane Scenery here in the UK. Crom is an oversized 28mm druid figure with antlers, but I'm not sure who makes it.

Half the fun of making HOTT armies is making them up with figures from all over the place.

No,usually Crom doesnt care about the affairs of men.Thats why the game designers made Gods leave the next 6 rolled for command pips…..

Thanks Kropotkin.

Another fun factor is taking those figures from all over the place and fighting all over the place…..Hyboria is ideal for that.

Cheers!
