I used to play the original DBR, left it for a long time, lost my rules, then bought version 2.0 to get back into it.

Of course the movement pip rules changed, and I have to say I find the '2 extra PIPs are expended if..' rule barely comprehensible. I asked about it and was told the rules change came from Mr Barker to close a loop hole in movement.

I'm playing DBR again with my Louis XIV 1672 figures, and I wondering whether to revert back to the version 1 rules, but I can't find a copy of them anywhere. Does any veteran reader recall the original PLAYER INITIATIVE POINT DICING section?

Some of the differences included:

2 extra if: Moving an element of pikes or shot from overlap into front edge contact with the overlapped enemy's flank.

3 Pips to: Move a group more than 4 elements wise.

Personally I find version 2 works well. Movement of troops is generally methodical. Though the section on pip seperation is hard to get your head around at first.
