Our Dark Age campaign pits Normans vs rebellious Anglo-Danes (Northumbrians) sometime after 1066 somewhere near York. We are using the Operations & Objectives WW2 campaign rules using the CoE modification. Basically you move elements on a hex map and fight the battles on the tabletop.

This was the third battle of the campaign. After the death of Bertwald, Bearn rallied the demoralised men in the heights above the Ouse and, with reinforcements, marched to prevent a Norman breakthrough following Aedilred's failure at Duffah's Dyke. A month after their mauling at the hands of the invaders, the stout men of Northumbria met their foes at the Ouse. With a Norman vanguard holding the bank, Bearn led his men in an attack to force them from the river.
