Our Dark Age campaign pits Normans vs rebellious Anglo-Danes (Northumbrians) sometime after 1066 somewhere near York. We are using the Operations & Objectives WW2 campaign rules using the CoE modification. Basically you move elements on a hex map and fight the battles on the tabletop.

This was the fouth battle of the campaign, as the Anglo-Danish commander, Caelin, withdrew through friendly territory shadowed by the enemy.

Someone making past the first battle of a map campaign?!? This fills me with joy. :)

Ha ha, you just need a small group of committed gamers, and a half decent set of campaign rules that keep it interesting!
