Scenario was Macedonian army facing off against a Spartan (Greek) revolt battle. Large scale battle with 25 / 28mm miniatures

One side rolls horrible
.One side rolls ok (average). Add in a failure of morale check. Mix with complete inability to run away faster than a Greek hoplite. Lastly, no commander in sight.
