I just purchased a copy of this rule set and a bunch of us are all looking at different time periods. Are the lists balanced points-wise to allow for ahistorical matches?

Maybe …

I play this set a good bit but mostly historical match-ups. They are probably balanced well, at least between fairly close periods (e.g.,Classical Ancient vs. Late Antiquity). Not sure about Biblical Period going against later periods. For points comparison, I've seen that a heavily armored cataphract from the Successors period tends to be about 39-42 points , whereas a heavy knight from the Crusades (which is Fearsome in addition to some rules they both share)is about 50 points. So, to summarize, I think that some thought has been put into players doing ahistorical matches.

Maybe Stuart or Mark will also comment.
