During the last fall gaming season I had a great opportunity to join in our semi-monthly ancient gaming with the local Clash of Empires (COE) 28mm group in Long Beach CA. The game host (David) scheduled a classical scenario of 5000 points of Spartans with their locally "impressed" Greek City states to face off against their common foe; the Persians. Even with the Persians getting a choice piece of open terrain to engage the Greek army the battle was won in the Spartan favor…. that's how the Spartan tell the story of course.

That is a most impressive array of miniatures! Looks like a fun game.

Thanks for the AAR – good looking game and sad if historical result. Not sure what the Persians can do against their nemesis. Hard to get the timing right with the cavalry on the flanks.

Must try a similar game using Hail Caesar.
