"Clash of Empires Battle of Heraclea" Topic

Here in Atlanta, Georgia, we used Mr. Jonas' scenario for Heraclea in WAB with no perceptible changes in forces and had a great time. (Well, as there is some debate about consular vs. double consular army, we split the difference to 6 'legions' as that's all I have done up and is clearly enough for one afternoon). Principes counted as thrusting spears and we gave them the Offensive Spearmen rule, as it fits in with Dionysus' account of their actions and they're giving up the Expert Swordsmen option. I was at a neighboring table and the quality of the paint jobs on those figures cannot be praised enough. It was a thoroughly impressive game.

Nice to read that others are playing COE in the USA and excellent paintwork on the miniatures. My small ancients group still play quarterly games of COE with historical battles. Typically 5-6k points per side using out large ex WAB armies. No basing changes required.

Thanks to everyone for your compliments, and thanks, Stelios, for providing your pics here too. Way to pound my flanks! That last pic just shows how empty was the area where the fighting took place. Should be littered with corpses everywhere. It took me an hour almost to put everyone back into their units.

Amazing looking game!

Great looking game and instructive report – I must admit I rarely take my figures from their movement trays, even then it takes about 30 minutes to deploy and about the same to tidy up.

When we used to play WAB it did take longer!
