Does anyone know when the 2nd edition of the Armati Renaissance Rules will appear?
To guess whether they are worth while waiting fot, I would like to know if anyone has experience with he 2st edition and can recommend them or perhaps just not.

Your guess literally is as good as anyone else's. laugh I know that there have been grumblings for some time about A2 Renaissance, but if the yahoo group dedicated to that endeavor is any gauge, I'd say that maybe by the end of the decade!

Armati 2 is an improvement over Armati and Advanced Armati, in my opinion. I hope that A2 Renaissance will be likewise.

Unless your interests are beyond the mid 1500s, you could get away with using Armati 2 for Renaissance, with perhaps the simple addition of arquebus skirmishers.

The plan, AFAIK, was for a 2006 release, but big Rob has recently had a shoulder operation and I don't know if this will set things back substantially or not…..

John, I have Armati and Adv Armati. What's the improvements in Armati 2?

I use Armati for ECW and it works very well. i do not use divisions, just move foot and horse regt as they are. had lots of great games now.

The biggest improvement of Armati 2 is the new points system for the army lists. There are several other minor changes in the army lists (plus there are a lot more lists) and rules. Is you like Armati and Advanced Armati, you will love the new version. The lists stop at the end of the middle ages / early rennaissance though.

There are tons of additional lists on this website: warflute.com

I agree with paintingbird, but would add that I think the rules are cleaned up and easier to understand. The "evade" rules are simplified, for example.

Easterling army list, AWSOME!! =)

Thanks, I use Tactica for ancients and Armati/Adv Armati for 30YW and ECW so it sounds like Armati II is of no use to me yet.

Condottiere21 Nov 2005 7:14 a.m. PST

Frank Hunter,

A2 would not be of any use yet, unless you were to alter the rules in your TYW/ECW games regarding evades, etc.
