Hi all Following the success of the inaugural event this year, I'm pleased to announce that the second Baccus Cup, otherwise known as the Armati doubles tournament, is scheduled for the weekend of the 3rd/4th Feb 2007. The intention, again, is to have a 6mm matched-pairs (a la Glasgow) format (all figures provided by yours truely – core+100pts on 6'x4'tables) over three rounds and the convention organisers have, this evening, tentatively given us the go-ahead for the event. The only anticipated change to the event is that the first round will now run on Saturday evening, between 4-7pm, which will then enable us to have a more leisurely time of it on the Sunday, with just two rounds to fit in around the show. Negotiations with Pete Berry of Baccus are ongoing and I hope that he is again going to be able to sponsor the event, as he so graciously did last year. I am looking for between 8-16 players to make up the entry for this event, with players being allocated their partners by a random draw on arrival. I am awaiting confirmation of entry price and will operate on a first-come, first serve basis once this has been agreed. I will let everyone know when entry for the tournament is open and will hopefully give more concrete information to everyone at the Glasgow event in November. Cheers P. |
