I love the way Armati models armies especially in the advanced Armati book, which I seemed to have bought the last one in captivity from OMM a couple years ago. But………. I am well aware of how ancient armies would be squeezed into a broad line, but a supporting line for Armati seems to be unfounded. Has anyone played HC using Armati armies as is and used the army lists in advanced Armati or second edition.? I have grown weary of the two armies lines up like a yardsticks and advancing into one big butt melee. And……. Are the unit sizes a detriment to HC. ? 16 for foot, 12 WB 6 LMI, and 4 for lights? Cavalry grouped as 6 or 4? Looking to get back into ancients and also want to use the models for upsized C&C battles |

Are the unit sizes a detriment to HC. ? 16 for foot, 12 WB 6 LMI, and 4 for lights? Cavalry grouped as 6 or 4? HC does not specifu unit sizes in terms of fogures as long as you can distinguish large, standard, small or tiny units you'll be fine, although most armies will have mostly standard sized units and may not have any large, small or tiny units at all. I see no reason why you couldn't play HC with Armati units. |

I agree with MajorB. Make your standard units 4 stands each and you can play with Armati armies. Number of figures on stands are just representative as units in HC roll set # of dice. BTW, most skirmish units are small and your 2 stand standard Armati skirmishers will fit perfectly as "small" in HC. You'll need more division commanders single stands painted – very important part of HC. |

We've played games with both sides entirely of cavalry. We use a standard 60mmx 60mm base for all units, whatever number of figures you put on it to denote unit type. Heavy cavalry is 3 per base, two bases per unit. Light cavalry is 2 per base with 2 bases per unit. Usually cavalry is on the wings, sometimes it is put in the centre or as a reserve. |
