Well, lots of people on here seem to like this so Im going to give it a go, however all my troops are DBx/FoG based. A look at the Impetvs website seems to indicate to me that all troop bases are actually simple multiple of DBx/FoG basing number – all double width and mostly double depth, with some still (skirmishers mostly) single depth
. Have I got the correct impression or are there types I have missed or are different in the full Impetvs rules. Has anyone played without rebasing from DBx bases and just played as is, or indeed any other comments along the lines of 'I play Impetvs with DBx based models and I do XXXXX' welcomed Cheers Tim |

We've played using DBx bases and just put four bases of infantry together. I think the base sizes for most cavalry in the rules are the same as four bases too, but we just used two and it looked fine. |

According to the maker you could also play the game with DBA basing if you want. But you got it right most BI bases are two or four DBA bases. |

In 25/28 mm they are very close to War of the Rings infantry bases of 8 skirmish figures on 25mm round single bases. |

Yup, same as Armati, DBA, DBM, Warfare in the Age of Discovery – just need (at least in Armati and WinAOD 4 bases for infantry -80mm frontage). Found the game is really enhanced with the reaction actions/opportunity and morale classes in the full version. Still can use the 300 point armies. |

Hi Tim, I know a lot of people that happily play Impetus or Basic Impetus with DBx bases (also in official tournaments). Moving a BI Unit made of 4 Dbx bases is the same as move a Battlegroup in FoG. The big base is simply an additional option for those who want create dioramas or just save figures. I also add that you can play BI by using only 2 DBx bases as depth is not so importaant (with the exception of Light Horse that can fire). |

Thanks all – looks good so far then – on a slight variation, has anyone played the game simply using 1 DBx base for one BI unit – either with the distances the same or halved and did it work or did the skirmishers cause difficulty? Tim |

yes, some play with single bases. Reducing the distances probably risk to slow the game, so do it only if you play on a small board. |
