We had another 400pt Impetus game the other night. Accounts by both generals can be found at:

Looks very nice. What base size for skirmishers for Impetus and HOTT. Really like the LOR stuff also including multi basing look.

Craig C15 Feb 2013 9:06 a.m. PST

Hi Colin

We use 8cm base widths with 6-8 figures on them.

We vary the depth depending on troop type:

skirmishers- 4cm (2-3 figs)
heavy foot/close order troops- 5cms
light foot- 6 cms
Cav 7cms

Hi Craig

When using smaller bases with 28mm figures, do you still use the 28mm movement and firing ranges?

Craig C12 Mar 2013 11:41 a.m. PST

Yes we do, it keeps things flowing nicely that way.

I was just thinking about doing this as well (28mm figs with 15mm bases). One of the great strengths of Impetus: its basing system!

Love the pics. :)

awesome,

glad to see the only good guys (other than brits and germans) of the ancient world win for once.
great report, nice painting as well!

Thank aapch45- there is a more receent (last week) battle report up on my blog as well- a rather bloody draw as both armies broke at the same time. We used a smaller table (6x4 for that one) and will continue to ue 6x4 boards at 400pts per side. Alas, tonight's game had to be postponed.

Played a game today just before my schedueled warhammer game. It is a very satisfying system!
Try playing a Briton list some time.
Naked fanatics vbu 5 I5 impetuous foot… as long as they charge, they are MONSTERS. I plowed through 1 legion stand, a cavalry stand, and an archer stand before legions finally made them rout.

Love to see more in the future. Grand report!

P.s. , already said it, but your painting is awesome.

Cheers aapch45.

Sounds like a good victory. Impetv defeitnly ah a satisfying depth to it and it continues to attract converts. My only advice with your Britons is to watch out for auxillia- they remove the impetus bonus. Interleaved between legions they make life difficult for warband armies.
