What kind of markers are you using to indicate units in Disorder? Models? Beads? Paper?

I keep going back to yellow beads since they are highly visible and hard to miss- they work. They are also generic so I can use the same ones for different armies and eras.

I have not played yet but when I do, it will likely be beads or caps.

I have painted shields with whirlwinds on (at least it is suppose to be whirlwinds)

I like to use single standard bearers, denoting the personnel attempting to rally the unit.

I like that idea.

Disorder – 2p size bases with arrows sticking in the ground (taken fire) or discarded weapons and shields (run from combat).

VBU loss – casualties on hexagon bases which I'll number 1-6 when I get round to it.

VBU loss I use casualties when I can find appropriate ones and small skulls when I can't.

For disorder I have been using beads, but think I will swipe highlandbevan's idea.

Disorder markers – individually based figures (these then double as my warbands for skirmish games.)
VBU loss – 'casualty' figures based on a terrained poker chip with a recess to take a small d6 to denote the hits.

I use simple foam yellow squares (craft store) for Disorder in other games. On some I have "Disordered" printed on adhesive paper is a very shaky font. (I use orange for broken/routing units and red foam arrows to declare charges or withdrawals.)

They are about 1.5 inches across and flexible to work standing between figures. Hard to miss, but not excessively obtrusive.

For disordered markers, I tend to use a brown puff of dust (ok, some cotton wool painted brown to look like a puff of dust). Sort of to indicate that a bit of dust is coming up as they shuffle in disorder. I use the same markers in ww2 for pinned statuses (in this case, lots of fire is raising dust and so the unit has to keep there heads down)
