I have been looking at Beta lists for 28mm Sumerians and wondered how to base them up. My thoughts were double base to represent large shield/pavise. Front base spearmen with shield and back base shieldless? Also heavy chariot/battle wagon. ? 2 on 12cm base. 1 seems too bare. |

Colin, I do Trojan Wars with the same rules, I also use 28mm, so I base Chariots on 60mm frontage and put two together as a unit. It is easier for weight etc to have as two seperate models. The only large units I use are the Pylian Spears, I have the unit in three ranks but count as a large unit in four, saves on figs, but then if I wish I allow a player to place a unit of skirmisher bows behind to fire out as if front of the unit, they stay attached throughout and act as part of the large unit, the benefit is this unit gets some firepower while advancing and the skirmishers which are easily destroyed get protection. All the best, Mark. |
