Hi all, Am rebasing my Hoplite Greek army for ADLG. Don't have the rulebook yet ( in the post!). Regarding the basing of Generals, does it make any difference in the rules or army lists if they are foot or mounted generals? Can I make up 40x40mm bases with mixed ( foot and mounted ) figures? Also, do the Greek lists have any Hamipoi in them? Based as LI and able to support Cav? Cheers Andy |

No problem doing 40x40mm for Generals Andy,it's one of the suggestions in the book. Mixing foot and horse figures ? I'd say just tell your opponent which one you're classing them as. No idea what Hamipoi are sorry and a quick scan of the Greek lists doesn't have anything named as such. Plenty of LI though. |

Got a bit curious about this one …light, javelin-armed infantry used to support cavalry apparently. |

Sometimes javelin armed, but usually armed with knife and/or sword. Would hold on to horses tails or just run with Cavalry, used to support cav in their fight against enemy cavalry. In the Alexander film (most recent one), he uses light troops running amongst the cav, same sort of idea. |

There are no special rules for light troops supporting cavalry and as most infantry apart from light infantry can be depicted on 40 x 40 mm bases I see no reason why you can't have 3 cavalry figures and 2 light infantry figures on a 40mm deep base. Indeed you could use this to perhaps show them as normal rather than mediocre cavalry. |

Thanks for the replies. Am basing the Hamipoi as LI/Psiloi/Skirmishers on 40x20 bases. This means I can place them behind Cav (in Impetus) for support, and also use them to mark better quality cav in ADLG, Armati 2, Sword and spear or any of the other rules I have sitting around👍 Looks like I have enough Greeks finished now for a decent sized army, now to carry on with the Parthians ( the LH will also be used for a Skythian army as I found a bag of Skythian infantry too ), also Sassanids and then I can get started on Romans and Successors ( Pyrrhic first!) |
