I like the looks of the new Foundry "Medieval Warfare" game. I think it will be just the thing to get me motivated to finish the medieval armies that have sat in my painting queue for about the last 3 years ;-)

I even checked out their "army deals" for HYW English and French. Not bad… about $6.50 USD for a mounted man-at-arms and less than $3 USD for a foot figure.

But what's this? The deal comes with bases too! For HOW MUCH??? $31.50 USD for 30-odd bases? "You're havin' a laugh – is he havin' a laugh???"

Litko must be weeping tears of laughter…

Wow, what a deal!!!

I'll be keeping my money in the bank…..

It would be an insult to such fine figures to not have the best bases.
What the heck is wrong with you?

Anyone know what the rules are like, waht army lists are included etc?

Are these the same rules as previously published under the same name by Saga Publishing?

Substantially so I believe. There was talk of Foundry producing these rules when I moved to Scotland in 2001 (I think that they had bought the rights even then)so they may have drited apart from the current Saga version

I actually edited these rules, in collaboration with the designer, the late Terry Gore, for Foundry in 2001.

We'd done a pretty good job on clarifying some aspects and using language that was less 'ancients player insider' in character. Terry was great to work with.

So we sent it to have a few pictures added, and the whole thing laid out nicely for publication.

What we did not know was that the Foundry Studio was a black hole for publications. Things that went in did not come out again for years. In Terry's case, for a lifetime.

If you like rules that have a fair amount of detail and are internally logical and consistent, "Medieval Warfare' may well be to your taste.

It seems that Foundry produces things 5 years later. They've had fantasy greens produced 6 years ago that have never been sold.

Here is the link to the Saga Warfare Yahoo group, which is a support site for these rules originally set up by the late author, Terry Gore. It is the place to go for questions and lots of extras available in the files section. I've been playing Ancient and Medieval Warfare for years, and I enjoy it a lot.
