Chaps,

Last week I bought a copy of these rules: link

A review here: link

Has anybody played them?

If so, I have a couple of questions.

1. How many 'points' have you settled on for a medium sized game?

2. How are you basing your troops? Size of base, number of figures etc.

Ta!

Michael.

The author has a Yahoo list (Crusaderminis) where he has been very good about fielding questions. IIRC, he suggests 2-3000 points per side for a good game.

My collection is currently based as singles, but I am seriously thinking of putting them on multiple bases like the units in the rulebook. I just like the mini-diorama look it gives.

3000pt Crusader games are approx same size as a 2000pt WAB game.

Base size for 25/28mm figs are 40x40mm for formed troops(4 to a base), skirmishers(2 to a base) and light infantry(3 to a base) and 50x50mm for all cavalry(2 to a base) and warbands(5-6 to a base). I recommend minimum troops size for inf be 6 stands and 5 for cav.

My troops are WRG standard in 15mm. I am using them as is. 3000 points will probably get you 6-8 units with 4-6 bases per unit.

Instead of rebasing your figs why don't you get custom movement trays in the size you are looking for?

When I first looked at the crusader rules I thought about doing this. Wargames Accessories makes them to whatever size you want for something just over a dollar each.

I've been basing figures two to a 20x40mm base. One in front of the other creates an element.

I'm going to be using 15mm on DBA/M base sizes with 2 infantry base or 1 cavalry/elephant base making up 1 "crusader" element.
