The song is OK but the statue of Gen. Zaragoza shows a much stouter man than the portrait. As another stout man from Texas I applaud Zaragoza's great victory!

The style of his coat might make him look stout, as it buttons across the chest and then flares back.

Apparently there is only one historical photograph of him (head and shoulders), and the paintings and statues mostly show him as quite thin, though one gives him a barrel chest.

The song refers to him never wearing lace, but most memorials show him in military uniform.
