Three comments on this battle: Normally, Dwarf armies in Mighty Armies are little motorboats, because – despite having a slow movement rate – a Dwarf army is often six elements or less, meaning you only need 2 points to move them as a group every turn (i.e., anything but a one!). I rolled a lot of 1's in this game. One interesting wrinkle was the charge by the lone Dwarf warrior element into the line of Orc archers (3 elements). Since the Orc archers had been acting as a Group, we resolved the combat as Dwarf element vs Orc Group – and the result was one archer stand eliminated, two archer stands Driven Back (which they couldn't do, so they were eliminated also). And lastly… I was pretty confident at the start of the battle, as I had a front line of good Dwarf crossbowmen (superior to Orc archers). But with a lucky initiative roll, Julia got off the first shot, knocking off one of my archers; my next chance to fire was abyssmal (bad dierolls); then she rolled hot to eliminate the rest of my archers! The odds were with me – the dice were against me! |

Sorry, no. My mistake – I just stumbled on the posting in my list and though this would a) be a message thread (without attached article) and b) another system glitch, because I could not make sense out of this on my own. Shows that 27 years of experience with online forums and news does not help making a fool out of oneself occasionally… |

I've had troops between a rock, and a hard place, as well: stands eliminated due to nowhere to retreat to! Killed by my own aggression, because I left no avenue for retreat. Different rules, but same situation. Nice battle report. Cheers! |
