Depends a bit on the time period considered: I've played some games with rules I've written myself, but it's a long time ago. |

Depends on year, opponents, and whether I can find a short enough set written by anyone else. |

I generally only play the rules that I've written at conventions. |

Although we do infrequently use rules completely written by one of our members, the Jackson Gamers have never been afraid of "improving" a rule set using home-grown modifications. Jim |

Full on rules, rarely – we do thought often use house rules for existing rulesets (for example, for Black Powder SYW we moved the fire phase to before the movement phase) |

Is it still "my own rules" after my opponent has run through three iterations of "Improvements?" |

By the time I get through my "modifications" and "improvements", to TSATF, there is still a vague family resemblance. |

Other: I have only played two rulesets, since around 2000: 2e BattleSystem (TSR authored, OOP since 1992), and a set of Army Men rules I wrote in 1998 (self-published and sold, 1998-2007). I stopped playing all other war games. I don't play wargames often, shamefully, but when I do, these are the rule sets I play. My last wargame was played in 2022, in spite of COVID. Cheers! |

Note that BattleSystem is no longer OOP, it is available as a digital download. |

Easily 50-65% of the time (I've designed two different sets of fantasy rules, and WWII tank battle rules). Working on development of sci-fi and pulp rules as we speak. |
