What a silly idea.

Which? Dice towers or tournaments?

It should be no to both :-)

I have no interest in tournaments, but I think there's something to be said for dice towers IF
1) they'll pass for a terrain feature and not add more clutter to the board and
2) they include something to coral the dice.

A burnt-out building with a chimney stack at one end usually works.

Dice towers to me are to help control over enthusiastic dice throwing from scattering figures band terrain. The kiddies can be persuaded to use them easier than just telling them to not throw the dice so hard.

I prefer them mostly for controlling dice, preventing them from smashing figures and terrain. They are just plain handy.

Also prefer them due to a few players who get creative with their dice rolling. Keeps them honest, to be blunt. Cheers!
