I HAVE to vote for Last of the Mohicans, because it's the greatest movie ever made.
But so is Zulu.
And so is Tombstone.
And…..

I guess the decider may be the true story part. Last of the Mohicans is based on a book with some historical figures and events. Saving Pvt Ryan is loosely based on a true story. Tora Tora Tora or Waterloo is about the historic event. Not being nit picky, just a different way to sort out the great movies here. (Assuming the Tora Tora Tora referenced is the original!)

At this point I'm going with "which ones would I rather put in the DVD player tonight to watch again."
Some I have never seen, so that has an impact too.

I apply no litmus test about truthiness. The Poll asks "Favorite", and that's how I voted.
If it asked me to judge which is the most accurate, I might give a different answer. MAYBE. 😄

Let's face it. Movie makers, television writers or opera composers are not bound by any Oath of Accuracy. Their fiduciary responsibility is not to Clio, the Muse of History.

At this time, the movie getting the most votes is Zulu. An issue can be made over the slander of Pvt Hook. Yet it makes him a great movie character. Nits may be picked with all the choices available here.

I wouldn't omit a film for taking liberties with history. I might for actually making up the story. But I think we're reaching the point at which all the nominees are first-rate films, and we're mostly talking taste.

Another totally impossible choice! These are ALL winners.
