We're such pawns of the industry: new & shiny. Bah, humbug….(& I voted for 'The Men Who Would Be Kings').

Thought Frostgrave would be killing this.

I'd go with Force on Force. But it was never even considered.

4 of 5 rules sets in the poll? Dan Mersey is a rock star!

Bought In Her Majesty's Name on a lark to read, and I found them uninspired. Was bored reading the rules, and knew I was never playing that game.

Before that I bought Across a Deadly Field, hoping that I could latch on to a regimental game for the ACW that satisfied my wants and needs. But apparently it went from a brilliantly worked out ruleset to something butchered beyond belief by Osprey. All of the handy charts were moved from where they were discussed to a rules summary page (whioch was then dropped). Some tables were missing. Some clarifying text was removed due to space limitations.

I tried to follow along as a yahoo group dealt with this, and loads of really helpful game players tried to explain the issues to newbies like me, but eventually, I decided that it was far to convoluted to try and get my buddies to play a game. If I have to refer to pages and pages of clarifying notes, they will lose interest (so will I for that matter).

So after those two debacles, I have decided that anything new from Osprey is a pass.

They are such a mixed bag of quality and ideas. Some seem like they have been well edited and tested and others don't. I vote Dux Bellorum. I like lion and dragon rampant but not Frostgrave or men who would be King.

Seems to me that the blue books are general better than the hardbacks but that it just my opinion. Probably because I expect less for less monies!!!

I like IHMN but I do not take it too seriously (obviously). It can bog down though if two opponents have good pluck.

What about Honours of War? That gets my vote.

In Her Majesty's Name was robbed. Easily the best system.

Also surprised Frostgrave isn't higher here.

IHMN only got 6% of votes in the first round. Kinda weird isn't it – this is the one book that got supplements so must be the best seller in the whole series you'd think.
