As much as I appreciate Excalibur, it's complete fantasy, not medieval, shiny armor and swords not withstanding. On the other hand I freely admit that most "medieval" movies (like most "historical" movies) are often "complete fantasy" in their depiction of the actual events and personages and legends of the era. (*cough* Braveheart *cough*) |

Totally agree with Parzival – and I have to think that having sex in full plate armour does stretch the bounds of reality Also agree that movies tend to have some crazy ideas about things like ancient/medieval combat – not all battles went from a charge to immediately devolve into a series of hand to hand fights |

Best means…? Accuracy or Entertainment or both? Medieval means…? Ostensibly set in that time, a Historical event, or either one?
(Pending an answer I voted Arn and Excalibur)

This genre of movies has more non-historical storylines than any other. So I am going for the most entertaining and well-made movies. |
