Many of these I've only seen as stage productions, which for me means I can't vote for them. So that knocks out A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (which is a hilarious stage production). I have the original London cast recording of Les Miserable on CD, and love it, but I've never seen the film, nor, alas, a theatrical production, not even a travelling one (tickets were waaaay too pricey). So again, no vote there. I don't care for Grease— entirely the wrong message. Plus I find some of the songs a bit trite, or even bland. But yes, that is very much a "movie musical." Just not one I'd vote for as a "favorite." |
