China Beach is one of my all time favourite TV shows so obviously I chose that one. Also really like Homeland although it is more of an espionage series than military themed. Waiting for round 2 (or 1B) where no doubt we'll find gems like Tour of Duty, The Unit, Unsere Mutter, Unsere Vater etc. |

How does Blackadder Goes Forth get included when it has less episodes than Band of Brothers, which does not get included? |

I agree – Band of Brothers! |

Band of Brothers was a mini-series. So was The Pacific. Blackadder Goes Forth was classified as a TV series. According to IMDB. |

Winds of War? A bit dated by now but still good. |

Could only find 4 I'd ever watched – most of the others must be US shows as I haven't heard of most of them. |

Look at all the votes for Hogan's Heros. I guess everybody didn't see the movie "Auto Focus" link |

'Allo 'Allo wins, hands down for the first 15 sec of this clip. It's one of the most hilarious things I have ever seen done and the juxtaposition of the two things (no spolier … watch the clip) exemplifies the conflict in the real world lives of people who live through war. That and the last scene from Black Adder where they finally go over the top. All the humour and satire led up to a poignant and absurdist point that literally choked me up when I saw it. Still does. Feeling it a little just writing about it. |

Also where is the show Rat Patrol? Oh the one on Nam? |

Also where is the show Rat Patrol? Presumably in part 1B or part 1C. This only covers the first part of the field. |

Other: The Aeronauts aka Les Chevaliers du Ciel. A late 1960s French show about a pair of Mirage pilots that was dubbed and shown in the UK in the early 1970s. |

Yeah the first time I saw them going over the top in Blackadder I was almost crying. All the silly and funny attempts to not go and then Darling being sent to be able to take part. Even George admitting his true feelings was stunning |

There was a Dirty Dozen series? I recall the original movie, and then a very poor sequel, so I guess technically, that qualifies, but never knew there was a series, assuming there were more than just the two movies. Must have been horrible, if it's never seen the light of day on all those long, dull, weekend afternoons, back in the day. |

No 'The Army Game'? YouTube link one of my favourites when I got to watch it. Being in the army it was not easy. x42 |

"Winds of War? A bit dated by now but still good." I enjoyed that too, especially Victoria Tennant AKA Angela Hyer, Penthouse Pet of the Month for May 1978. |

I know it's not exactly a "war series" but Foyle's War is an exceptional series set in WWII England. The other one would be The Bletchley Circle. Post war, but showing the cast drawing on their experiences during the war working at Bletchley Park, etc. Hopefully in the next round, then. :) |
