Again, there are trade-offs. The more incentives on offer, the further I'll travel to attend the convention, though a full day's travel is a practical max. And when the incentives go below a certain level, I quite literally won't drive downtown to attend.

Some odd choices on this list…

I'd agree with Cerdic. There's "make or break" and there's "nice to have." This is supposed to be "must-haves" but I can't really see someone saying "I'm never coming back to this convention: the lighting isn't adequate" or checking to see how often the rest rooms are scheduled to be cleaned before reserving a room.

I have said I am never coming back because the lighting wasn't adequate. I hate it when your game is in a ball room where half the light bulbs are out because the hotel is too cheap. You spend months painting figures building terrain for it to be all wasted time because you can't see to truly appreciate it.

Must haves.

1. Good Lighting and plenty of it.
2. Good game tables. As in no gapping holes in them and have at least four legs.
3. Temperature Control. I can put on a sweater if it is too cold but no AC in the summer is a deal breaker.

Actually an all the above choice is needed. Why should you not expect all of it?

"Good pest control" is one of the choices. Makes you wonder where some people hang out?

"Nearby places of historical interest" is another that stands out. Being in Britain, EVERYWHERE is near a place of historical interest!

Rallynow---mainly because most gamers and want to spend their money on figs, terrain rather than on a ritzy ambience.

because the majority of gamers have "champagne tastes" but a "beer budget", BUT are only willing to pay "Bottled Water" prices…

Hence why a certain hotel that is falling apart is so popular with a certain group of people….

I didn't know that tables with no holes in them or decent lighting or room temperature constituted being "rtzy". You have a really low bar.
