Different games, different answers. My regular games at the club with friends? I'll check whose calling. Putting on a game at a con? Switch it off.

Very few have my number, and the family knows where I am and will only call in an emergency. So if the phone rings, I check the screen for family— it might be an emergency. If not family, I send it to voice mail.

Yeah, always worth checking. Unless it's the "I don't know this phone number" ringtone.

Long before I had a cellphone, I was running a game at GenCon and got paged for a phone call. GenCon as a rule does not do that. I left the game in friends' hands and went to the info booth. There was a death in the family.

If I get a call during a game it is either my family or the on-call dispatcher – neither one of whom I can ignore!
