Really don't understand Cole Younger and Frank James in this. First, they were guerilla fighters not cavalry and second, neither man ever commanded anything. They rode for Anderson and Quantrill. So this is a Hmmm, for me.

I'm still admiring alphabetization by first name. Makes no difference in the outcome, of course. Probably.

My usual hedge, and one of several reasons why I dislike command ratings. You can be a very good commander for deep raids, an excellent commander for intelligence-gathering or a first-rate commander of battlefield cavalry without being any good at all at the other two missions. You don't pick the best "cavalry commander" but the best officer for how you intend to employ your cavalry. Poll results will reflect TMP opinions on that at least as much as they reflect the relative competence of the officers.

A good cavalry commander is a jack of all trades. Able do to do any type of mission.
