Do they fit into the UK's security and strategic objectives? Do they have unique qualifications that are necessary and otherwise unmet in the current force? Are they cost-effective? |

Militaries don't exist for your pleasure, but to forcefully protect your rights against aggressor states. Criteria on a forces structure should be driven by their ability to succeed in warfare. Consideratioms like historical performance, or heritage, or diversity are irrelevent to discussions of their current contribution to military goal attainmemt. |

From a cost and efficacy point of view I think the Ghurkas a pretty good value for money – plus allow some operational options that are allow a certain amount of flexibility So I would say they are worth keeping – much like the French have retained the Legion Etranger |
