Being a pretty non-violent type of person, this is the type of knife I'd bring:

And any gun fight would involve guns like this:

I prefer a sword

Three knives-one for throwing, one for replacing a dropped weapon/disarm maneuver, one to see the light go out of his eyes….read that somewhere…

Plus stealth skills, Soviet Ballisic Knife and Spetznat/Chinese Shovel.

What's next? Bringing Light Amplification through Stimulated Emission of Radiation to a Kinetic Energy Fight?

Sorry, I'm in a weird mood.

I always bring a halberd to a gunfight in a telephone booth.

Where can you find a phone booth these days?

As a back up for my back up piece. Maybe.

I voted bayonets, but really means:
Now this is a knife for a gunfight!

That is a good point!

I would if his gun was holstered. It was less than 20 feet. My reaction time was better than his.

Yes because there are times prior to the real shooting that you want to kill someone quietly.

A knife is really good for this.

Never hurts to have a back-up blade – but I think having a gun at a gun fight is a good thing

When ever I am armed I always have at least a knife or three.

However if it is truely a gunfight then a knife ought not be the primary weapon. If however you are in one of the many combat grey areas then the decisions start and have to happen quickly.
