I have some of the Panzerschiffe merchant ships and they are nice little "toys." They do not have any masts so if you are so inclined, you'll need to add your own.

See the last picture in this blog posting of mine for an example. link

I like this poll. Mako11 has explained some of his criteria for "best".

But I have no opinion on the matter.

I like the idea of making folks bring their own ships and then crushing the ones that sink. That sort of brings home the horrors of war. It also pushes one towards the cheapest models available.

I would purchase from both CiC and VF if that were an option. Don't care for PS and GHQ cost too much.

Have quite a few CinC and like them (back when they were just starting and the selection was more limited I added quite a few merchants to an order as after the additional discount they were essentially free). Of course back then it was about 2.50(?) for a three pack.

Added some of the newer models when I placed another large order a couple of years ago – still like them.

Picked up the Jervis Bay and a few other ships from Panzerschiffe as they were the only ones who carry it. Not overwhelmed. Might still go back for other ships that are not produced elsewhere.

Have some Viking Forge – some of the older models are pretty bad (hear that they are reworking them). Newer models are quite nice. Have been wanting to get in a better financial situation to be able to place a significant order. They have a number of ships I would like to have – Empire MacAlpine (see what a difference having a Spitfire makes to your convoy), the AMCs (particularly Rawalpindi), German destroyers, French auxiliaries, Japanese merchants, etc.

Alnavco is apparently still out there. No merchants in the Superior line but they do carry Seabattle. Definitely out of your price range though at around 10.00 for a small cargo ship up to 20.00 for larger models.

Yea, CinC seem to be the best fit, for the money.

Just wish they made more of them.

Panzerschiffe does multipacks of merchants. Some have 9 ships for $20. USD
