I had to cut myself off at 5.
It was difficult.

Voted for the 3 I've read, still haven't had to make a decision yet in this poll.

You did well, miniMo. Only one on this section I've read, though I have the DVD of The Enemy Below--and the Star Trek episode.

Odd. Not that I haven't read enough historical novels and war stories in my time, but outside of intelligence and espionage WWII novels seldom turn my crank. I think there was a Max Hastings or so I forgot to nominate, but they wouldn't have gotten past the first round anyway.

Similar for me, 'Mo. I only vote for the ones I read and remember liking. If I've read it, but can't remember it, then it doesn't get a vote.

I found Catch-22 unreadable. I wonder how many vote for the movie, not the book.

Me too. Tried it years ago and stopped reading it.

Never seen the movie, but I thought the book was pretty good.

(Now, I dislike most historical novels, so that's perhaps not a vote in favour for people who like the genre.)

I wore out my copy of Catch-22 from reading it so much.
I found the movie forgettable. It was just a star studded bore fest. 😄 Art Garfunkel???
I recently heard that it was a TV miniseries, but I didn't bother to find out more.

HMS Ulysses was a "Dear Lord, how much more crap are they going to throw at that poor ship?" read. But I enjoyed it nonetheless.
The Cruel Sea was much more grim, and I would call it "must read" Literature.

Liked the Catch-22 book better than the movie.
