Well, the Allies won the war, so I guess Churchill was right.

Could it had been won sooner if the American strategy was accepted? Don't know.

Would it have been another Dieppe? Don't Know.

Churchill was right – in 1942 the last thing the Allies needed would be a major defeat of US/Empire forces trying a main force assault on the Continent

As noted above, the Allies did win after all

Correct, plus what Churchill wanted was to tax the German Military to the breaking point.
