"I don't recall seeing any boardgames at Toys R Us priced over $40 USD USD"

Back when the original Axis & Allies came out it pretty much costed that and I got it from Toys R Us. You don't really see that in the stores too much now. Most stores be it Wal-mart, Target or Toys R Us are likely to stock board games that are tried and true sellers or based on the popular movie/series of the time. Star Wars Risk, Lord of the Rings Risk, Pirates of the Carribean Battleship anyone?

AT-43 might draw a few to play, but much like Mechwarrior the craze will quickly fade. The company won't care, they'll have made a quick buck on it. And I doubt even fewer will move on to other games, the company wouldn't want that either. If they're moving on to other games, that's less people playing theirs equating to less money. Unless they have a turnover ratio like GW.

AT 43 will have a limited impact on the Anglo Saxon world. At best it will be just one of the (prepainted) games. However it will have a huge impact on the French market. If Rackham succeeds in selling starters at Carrefour they can kick GW out of France and totally dominate the French market.

I think Svenius may be right.

Locally, I don't think the game will have much effect at all.
