There are others besides Conan?

On a more serious note I suspect that while Robert E Howard created many great characters Conan will be the crowd's favourite

Conan was the only one I knew anything about. However, I was not a fan of his short run on the Tonight Show.

Not really sure how Conan is beating out the household name of Breckenridge Elkins of Bear Creek.

Agreed! You convinced me to change my vote. I love those stories!

Bran Mac Morn and I don't care-a popular song?

I always thought it said something very sad about L. Sprague de Camp that he couldn't tell Howard's characters apart. It made for some very strange adaptations back in the Gnome Press/Lancer days.

Kull the King! The hero so good his stories got recycled for that upstart Cimmerian.

Although El Borak is a close second.

Solomon Kane is at the top of my list.

Solomon Kane is very nifty, as is King Kull. And what red-blooded traditional male doesn't love Red Sonja? Not that Marvel Comics didn't really establish her, compared to her skimpy Howard origins.

Kane and Bran mac Morn are a good 2 and 3 choice

USAFpilot23 Apr 2017 2:22 p.m. PST

Conan and Solomon Kane are a tie for first place. Kull, Bran Mac Morn, and the rest are not as well developed. Howard wrote more Conan stories then any other so I understand why Conan is in first place. If you like Conan, you will like Kane.

Sailor Steve Costigan needs to be a choice

Turlogh dubh O'Brien probably doesn't really belong on the ballot, as he's only in two completed stories, but one of those completed stories may be the best Howard ever wrote.

I went with Kane though; the Kull series are my favourite stories, but Kane is just fascinating.
